OFFICIAL RULES - Western Union® “World of Betters” Contest
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A TRANSACTION WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW.
HOW TO ENTER: The Western Union® World of Betters Contest (“Contest”) begins at 12:00:01 am Greenwich Mean Time (“GMT”) on November 1, 2011 and ends at 11:59:59 pm GMT on December 15, 2011 (the “Promotion Period”).† To participate in the Contest, you must submit by no later than 11:59:59 pm GMT on December 15, 2011 a short paragraph (no more than 100 words) describing how you would use US$1,000.00 to make the world a better place (“Entry”).† To submit an Entry visit www.worldofbetters.com, click on the enter button to complete the registration form and follow the instructions on how to submit your Entry. Entries must be complete in order to be eligible. All qualifying Entries will be posted on www.worldofbetters.com, where visitors will be invited to vote for their favorite Entry through December 15, 2011.† The five hundred (500) Entries that receive the most online votes from the public are “Finalists.”† All Finalists will be judged (see Judging) to determine one hundred (100) Grand Prize Winners. †Limit one vote per e-mail address per entry. †Entrants may not buy or trade votes or otherwise offer anything of value for votes.† All individuals who have chosen to opt-out from further promotional contact by Sponsor are eligible for all prizes when entering this Contest.

PRIZES: Grand Prizes (100): US$1,000.00 cash each (or USD equivalent).†† Prizes will be awarded in the form of money transfer, cash, check, payout card or some combination.† Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to substitute a prize of equal or greater value.† Total value of all prizes offered US$100,000.00. Each potential Grand Prize Winner is subject to validation and verification of eligibility and compliance with all terms and conditions set forth in these Official Rules. In addition, in some countries, potential Grand Prize Winners must correctly answer, unaided, a skill-testing question (which may be administered by telephone) before being declared a winner. †Except where required by law, all federal, state, local and other applicable taxes related to any prize are the responsibility of the individual winners.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL ENTRIES:
ï Entries MUST NOT contain material that violates or infringes another’s rights, including but not limited to, material that constitutes copyright infringement.
ï Entries MUST NOT contain material that is, as determined in Sponsor’s sole discretion, tortious, defamatory, slanderous, or libelous.
ï Entries MUST be in keeping with Sponsor’s image and MUST NOT be obscene, indecent, or otherwise offensive, as determined by Sponsor at its sole discretion. Entries MUST NOT contain material which is (or promotes activities which are), as determined in Sponsor’s sole discretion: lewd, pornographic, inappropriate, violent, discriminatory (e.g. based on race, gender, religion, national origin, physical disability, sexual orientation, age, or other protected status), illegal (e.g. underage drinking, substance abuse, computer hacking, etc.), hateful, profane, or harassing; or contain material that is threatening to any person, place, business, group or world peace; or contain words or symbols that are widely considered offensive to individuals of a certain race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation or socioeconomic group; or encourage acts of violence or acts that are or appear to be unlawful or dangerous.
ï Entries MUST NOT include material that is unlawful, in violation of, or contrary to the laws or regulations in any state where the entry is created.
ï Entries MUST be the Entrant’s original idea (modification of an original work is not an original idea) and must be the Entrant’s own original creation executed solely by Entrant.
ï Entrant MUST NOT copy or otherwise plagiarize from any source.

By submitting an Entry, entrant grants to Sponsor and its agencies and designees a non-exclusive, perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free license to use the Entry for purposes of the Contest and for other commercial and non-commercial purposes in all media now know or hereafter developed.† Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, not to post and/or to remove any Entry or other submitted material that it reasonably believes does not comply with the above criteria and to disqualify such Entry.†

JUDGING: On or about December 16, 2011, Sponsor will tally the results of all eligible online votes received to determine the Finalists.† A panel of pre-determined judges, comprised of Western Union employees and employees of one or more of its marketing agencies, around the world will evaluate all Finalists according to the judging criteria: Originality/Creativity (One-Third); Relevance to Theme (One-Third) and Potential Impact (One-Third) to determine the Grand Prize winners. †In the event of a tie amongst Finalists under consideration to be the one hundredth Grand Prize Winner, said Entries will be re-evaluated by the judging panel, based solely on Relevance to Theme to determine the Grand Prize Winner. By participating, entrants agree to the Official Rules and the decisions of the judges and Sponsor, which shall be final and binding in all respects. Please note that even if your Contest Entry is listed as a Finalist, you have not yet won a prize. All entrants are subject to verification and must meet all eligibility requirements.

PRIZE WINNER NOTIFICATION:  Potential Grand Prize winners will be contacted using the information submitted with their Entries.† Potential Grand Prize Winners (or parent/legal guardian if winner is a minor) must complete and execute an affidavit of eligibility, as well as a liability release and, unless prohibited by law, a publicity release, all of which must be completed, signed and returned within 10 days of issuance or the prize will be forfeited and awarded to an alternate winner. If any verified Grand Prize Winner is deemed a minor in his/her state or country of residence, the prize will be awarded in the name of the winner’s parent or legal guardian. If any prize notification is returned as undeliverable, the corresponding potential Grand Prize Winner will be disqualified and an alternate Potential Grand Prize Winner will be selected (on the basis of the criteria stated herein) and notified as per the procedures describe above. Prizes will be awarded to winners within 2 weeks after verification of winner eligibility.†

PRIVACY:† The personal information you submit when you enter the Contest is collected by Sponsor and will be subject to Sponsor’s Privacy Statement (“Statement”) applicable to the country where you reside and relevant local legislation including EU directive no. 46/95/CE, where applicable. By entering the Contest you expressly consent that Sponsor may disclose your personal information to third parties, that may be located in countries such as the United States, as explained in the applicable Statement. To obtain a copy of the applicable Statement, visit Sponsor’s website at www.westernunion.com and select your country. Information disclosed may include financial background; identification, such as name and address; transaction information; and other information relating to financial matters. Recipients may include financial institutions; retailers; companies that process transactions or provide other services for Sponsor; government agencies; and direct marketers.† In some countries or states you may need to affirmatively opt-in before Sponsor can make certain disclosures or uses of your information.† In all other countries and states, you may opt out of (direct Sponsor not to make) certain disclosures. If you do not opt out, Sponsor will assume that you agree that your information may be used as the Statement describes. †Sponsor fully recognizes your rights, including where applicable your right to access to your personal data processed by us, and reminds you that you may opt in/out anytime irrespective to your previous choice. Where applicable, you may obtain a copy of data pertaining to you and submit updates and corrections to it by requesting such action from the Controller. The "Controller" of the data for legal purposes will be Sponsor, which may be contacted at: wobprivacy@westernunion.com. Appropriate measures will be used to protect the data from unauthorized or unlawful access or disclosure.

LIMITATIONS: Entrants agree that Sponsor is not responsible for the following: (i) electronic transmissions, Entries or submissions that are lost, late, stolen, incomplete, illegible, damaged, garbled, destroyed, misdirected or not received by Sponsor or its agents for any reason, (ii) any problems or technical malfunctions, errors, omissions, interruptions, deletions, defects, delays in operation or transmission, communication failures or human error that may occur in the transmission, receipt or processing of Entries or related materials, or for destruction of or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, Entries or related material, (iii) failed or unavailable hardware, network, software or telephone transmissions, damage to entrants’ or any person’s computer and/or its contents related to or resulting from participation in this Contest, or causes beyond Sponsor’s reasonable control that jeopardize the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Contest; (iv) any Entries submitted in a manner that is not expressly allowed under these Official Rules (all such Entries will be disqualified); or (v) printing errors in these Official Rules or in any advertisements or correspondence in connection with this Contest. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel or suspend this Contest should virus, bugs, fraud or other causes beyond the control of the Sponsor corrupt the administration, security or proper play of the Contest and in such case to award the prizes based on the eligible, non-suspect Entries received as of the date of cancellation/suspension.† CAUTION:† ANY ATTEMPT BY AN INDIVIDUAL TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEBSITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THIS CONTEST MAY BE A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS.† SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO DISQUALIFY AND SEEK DAMAGES FROM ANY SUCH INDIVIDUAL TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

GENERAL RULES/ELIGIBILITY: The World of Betters Contest is a web platform contest with entry open to individuals from multiple participating jurisdictions, subject to applicable country local laws. †Promotion open only to individuals who are 18 years of age or older as of November 1, 2011. Promotion NOT OPEN to residents of Antigua & Barbuda, Argentina (Mendoza province), Bahamas, Belarus, Bosnia, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Comoros, Cuba, Curacao, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Honduras, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Kenya, Lebanon, Liberia, Libya, Madagascar, Mauritania, Mauritius, Myanmar (formerly Burma), North Korea, Peru, Rwanda, Saint Kitts And Nevis, Saint Vincent And The Grenadines, Sao Tome And Principe, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Seychelles, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Trinidad and Tobago, Turkey, Uruguay, Venezuela, Zimbabwe.
Employees of Western Union, its administrator(s) and judges, and their affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, or any other suppliers to Sponsor and the immediate families and/or those living in the same household of each are not eligible to participate. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. Void where prohibited by law. Odds of winning depend, in part, on the number of eligible Entries received.† No substitution or transfer of prize allowed, except at Sponsor’s sole discretion. By participating, each Entrant agrees to release and hold harmless Sponsor, its affiliates and subsidiaries, the administrator(s) and judges, harmless against any and all claims and liability arising out of entry into the Contest or use of the prize. In the event of a dispute as to the identity of a winner based on an e-mail address, the winning Entry will be declared made by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at time of Entry.† “Authorized account holder” is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, on-line service provider or other organization (e.g., business, educational, institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. Winners assume all liability for any injury or damage caused, or claimed to be caused, by participation in this Contest or use or redemption of any prize.

Belford Avenue, M21WOB, Englewood, CO 80112 United States of America postmarked by December 31, 2011 or visit www.worldofbetters.com. Vermont residents may omit return postage.

Québec Canada Residents: Any litigation respecting the conduct or organization of a publicity contest may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux for a ruling. Any litigation respecting the awarding of the prize may be submitted to the Régie only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement.
